Plant Care

Watering

During summer, Water daily or when the soil starts to become slightly dry at the top. During Winter season water once in 2 days or when the soil starts to become slightly dry at the top. Keep the soil lightly moist at all times, but do not overwater as this will cause brown spots and leaf drop. Curly or dry leaves suggest, the plant is dry and needs watering. Water in the early morning or late evening when temperatures are cooler. Always check your soil before watering.

Light

During summer season keep the plants in shaded area and during winter season plants can withstand direct/indirect light.

Temperature

During summer season or when the temperature is above 45°C place the plant in shaded area. During winter season or the when the temperature is below 45°C the plants can be directly placed in direct/indirect sunlight.

Fertilizer

Apply liquid fertilizer or slow release fertilizer once in 15 days. Always fertilizer the plants during the morning hours when the temperature is low. For best results use Folikraft ready to use Outdoor Plant Food / Flower Booster.

Plant Bio

Acacia arabica, commonly known as Babul or Indian gum arabic tree, is a deciduous tree native to the Indian subcontinent and other parts of Asia. It belongs to the Fabaceae family. Here's a description and care guide for Acacia arabica:

Description:

Foliage: The leaves of Acacia arabica are bipinnate, with small leaflets arranged in pairs along the branches. The foliage is typically green and provides a feathery appearance.

Flowers: The tree produces pale yellow, fragrant flowers in spherical clusters. The flowering period usually occurs in the spring.

Fruit: The fruit is a pod that is flat and slightly curved, containing seeds. The pods mature to a dark brown color.

Bark: The bark of the tree is dark brown to gray, with a rough and fissured texture.

Size: Acacia arabica can reach a height of 20 to 30 feet (6 to 9 meters) with a similar spread.

Care Guide:

Light: Acacia arabica thrives in full sun. Plant it in a location where it can receive ample sunlight throughout the day.

Temperature: The tree is well-adapted to warm climates and is suitable for USDA hardiness zones 10-11. It can tolerate high temperatures and is relatively resistant to drought.

Watering: While Acacia arabica is drought-tolerant once established, regular watering is beneficial, especially during dry periods. Ensure the soil is well-draining to prevent waterlogging.

Soil: Plant in well-draining soil with a slightly acidic to neutral pH. The tree can tolerate a variety of soil types, including sandy or loamy soils.

Fertilization: Acacia arabica generally doesn't require heavy fertilization. However, a balanced, slow-release fertilizer applied in the growing season can support healthy growth.

Pruning: Prune as needed to shape the tree, remove dead or diseased branches, and promote good air circulation. Regular pruning can help maintain a neat and attractive appearance.

Pest and Disease Management: Acacia arabica is relatively resistant to pests and diseases. However, keep an eye out for potential issues like aphids or scale insects, and treat them promptly if detected.

Propagation: Propagate Acacia arabica through seeds. Scarify the seeds by nicking or scratching the seed coat before planting. Germination may take several weeks.

Acacia arabica is valued for its versatile uses, including traditional medicine, timber, and as a source of gum arabic. It also provides shade and contributes to soil conservation. By providing it with appropriate sunlight, well-draining soil, regular watering, and occasional feeding, you can cultivate a healthy and beneficial Acacia arabica tree in your landscape.
